Showcasing Creativity in Coin Design for Bank of Slovenia
I participated in the Bank of Slovenia’s annual competition for designing collector coins, taking on the challenge of creating designs for two simultaneous contests. Despite learning about the competition at the last minute, I was able to develop two distinct concepts in just a few days. The first design celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Slovenian plebiscite, a pivotal moment in Slovenia’s history. The second design commemorated the 500th anniversary of the birth of Adam Bohorič, a prominent Slovene Protestant preacher and the author of the first Slovene grammar. Although my designs did not win, they were met with positive feedback, and I am proud of the creativity and effort I invested in these projects.
Embracing Challenges and Celebrating Artistic Efforts in Competitive Design
The Bank of Slovenia’s collector coin design competition presented an exciting opportunity to explore historical themes through art. Even with the tight deadline, I was able to produce thoughtful and meaningful designs that honored significant Slovenian milestones—the 30-year anniversary of the plebiscite and the 500th anniversary of Adam Bohorič’s birth. These projects allowed me to blend artistic expression with cultural heritage, reflecting my passion for both design and history.
While my entries did not win, the positive feedback and recognition they received were affirmations of the quality and thoughtfulness of my work. I am proud of my contributions to this competition and view these designs as a testament to my ability to deliver creative solutions under pressure, demonstrating both resilience and dedication to my craft.
